If you are just starting your fitness journey and looking for an affordable but quality treadmill, you don’t have to look further than the XTERRA TR150 Folding Treadmill. Even though it isn’t a commercial-grade machine, the XTERRA TR150 has a pretty sturdy construction. The machine is lightweight and weighs less than 100 lbs yet has the capacity to hold users up to 250 lbs. The lifetime warranty on the steel frame is a good sign that this product is built to last. Even though the 1-year warranty on the motor is decent, the 90-day warranty on its parts and labor is a bit troubling. But compared to other treadmills in the same price range, the XTERRA TR150 is a great product to own. This article provides a comprehensive warranty on the XTERRA TR150 folding treadmill.
The XTERRA TR150 is a great starter machine for people working out at home. Whether you don’t have time to go to a gym or you hate working out outdoors, this machine will help achieve your fitness goals by working out at your own home. It is a budget-friendly machine built to last for many years. The best thing about the treadmill is you can easily store it under the bed or a couch by folding it. It’s a space-worthy investment with 12 preset workout programs to cater to all levels of users – starting from beginner walkers to advanced speed walkers.
Even though the XTERRA TR150 is considered a beginner-friendly treadmill, it comes with a pretty sturdy frame made of high-quality steel tubing. The steel parts of the unit feature a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The motor cover, side rail covers, and console dashboard are made of ABS plastic. The treadmill is 63.4 inches long and 28.75 inches wide, and you should place it in an area with at least two feet of clearance on each side as well as three feet of clearance at the rear and one at the front for safety purposes.
Since the treadmill features a folding design, you can easily fold it up before storing the machine under a bed or couch. Once folded up, the dimensions of the unit are 29″ x 28.75″. Although the unit weighs around 97 lbs, the front base has a set of transport wheels to move it without any problem. With the wheels, you won’t be handling more than 35% of its total weight when moving the treadmill.
The TR150 features a rubber belt that’s non-slip and heavy-duty. The running surface is around 50 inches in length and 16 inches in width. The maximum running speed is 10 mph, and the unit is ideal for walking or jogging than running. People over 6-feet in height may find the running surface a bit shorter for complete strides. But the surface is great for jogging and walking for such people. The TR150 deck comes with an XTRASoft cushioning system with 3 shock-absorbing elements on each side of the deck. The cushioning system helps reduce more than 20% of the impact generated when walking or running on the surface. You will have a more comfortable and healthy ride thanks to the XTRASoft system.
The TR150 has a 2.25 HP motor. Although it’s not super powerful, the motor can easily withstand prolonged walking or jogging sessions. There is a small flywheel to stabilize the rotation motion to make the movement of the running belt much smoother. The unit has a speed range between 0.5 and 10 mph with quick adjustment keys on the console for 1 to 9 mph. The gradual speed adjustment keys provide increments of 0.1 mph so that you can find the perfect pace for your workout.
The console has several programs so that you can choose an exercise plan through one of these programs. The unit will automatically adjust the speed of the belt according to the program you select. The console isn’t compatible with most online fitness apps because it doesn’t have Bluetooth. But the TR150 comes with quite a few features to keep the user motivated. The LCD display has easy to read and large digits. It helps track time, speed, distance, pulse, and calories. Since the console isn’t telemetric, it can only read the pulse of the user through the sensors integrated into the handlebars. The console doesn’t work with POLAR or similar types of HR chest strap transmitters.
The console features 12 preset programs as well as a manual program. Most of the preset programs are interval-based. The default duration for each program is 30 minutes. The speed will automatically adjust every 3 minutes in a selected program. You have the option to increase/decrease the speed setting of each interval and customize the program according to your specific needs. The console also has a STOP/START button so that you can pause the program if required to do so. But the pause is only 5 minutes long. After 5 minutes, the display will reset and once again return to the start-up mode.
The treadmill comes with a manual incline system where you cannot adjust it during your workout. Adjustable rear stabilizers are responsible for the deck’s incline system. The stabilizers can be locked into the desired position with a pop-pin. The deck set-up height can vary depending on the incline setting selected. For example, you can choose between 0.5°, 1°, and 2° incline increments – which are not that extreme.
The deck is completely assembled. You only have to attach the console, side console masts, and connect the wires in terms of assembly. It won’t take you more than 15-20 minutes to assemble the unit. The manual gives assembly instructions in easy-to-follow steps. Make sure to lubricate the running belt after 40 hours of use. The console has a lube notification function to remind you to lubricate the belt.
The XTERRA TR150 is a beginner-friendly treadmill for home gyms. It is ideal for walking and jogging. It comes with a manual incline system with three positions to take your workout sessions to the next level. All in all, the XTERRA Fitness TR150 Treadmill is a quality purchase at its price range.
